gchs mpg Grove City High School - Max Planck Gymnasium
Grove City, OH - Heidenheim, Germany

The Exchange Program between Grove City High School and Max Planck Gymnasium has taken place every year for over 30 years. Each spring, approximately 20 German students from the MPG come to Grove City for three weeks. They stay with host families in the Grove City community and attend school each day. They go on field trips to The Ohio State University, the Columbus Zoo, The Ohio State House, etc. and they are allowed to attend work with their host parents. In exchange, students from GCHS travel to Heidenheim, Germany in the summer and stay for 3 1/2 weeks. Our students learn about the German language, culture and school system. They get first-hand knowledge of the German way of life as they live with German families, attend school and go on field trips to Munich, Ulm, Stuttgart and to the Bodensee (Lake Constance).

Students may participate in the German Exchange Program during their Junior year. They travel to Germany during the summer between their Junior and Senior years. Most students will have completed three years of German before they travel to Germany. Since we are usually in need of additional host families, freshmen and sophomores are allowed to host German students, but may not travel to Germany.

Since this is a school sponsored trip, all rules as outlined in the Grove City High School Student Code of Conduct are in effect throughout the duration of the trip.

There will be 4 parent meetings throughout the school year to help parents and families learn more about the German Exchange Program. If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail:
